The name was changed to 1WTC in March of 2009, so don’t pretend it just happened. And yay that it changed, 1WTC is more appropriate. Freedom Tower was a terrible name for it, hypocritical as well because no one really wanted it built, and were deprived of a voice on it and I feel, that 1WTC is the least they could do for not rebuilding the twins. 1WTC will be magnificent when it is built, and only it. I don’t like the plan for other towers at the sight, especially that diamond-tipped one.

America is the Land of the Free – everyone knows, so what is it – “Freedom from what?” The Statue of Liberty was presented to the US for a purpose – liberation from colonial bondage. But this Freedom Tower – perhaps – it is Freedom from terrorism?!?

I’m not sure anything should be built in place of the original WTC. After all, 3000 people lost their lives there–only a fraction were ever given proper burials. That space should be consecrated and then considered hallowed ground. That would be symbolic of true freedom. To be free from the rampant material “progress” that Manhattan seems to symbolize. Imagine a patch of empty space in the center of the world’s most expensive real estate market. What message would that send?
Warren: The design is bad “Fangshui” – it is much too sharp and look likes a knife stabbing right through the heart of Manhattan, if you don’t beleive me google the images of the proposed tower.
